[News/PS4/Xbox One] Kingdom Hearts III will mark the end of the saga, but not the end for Sora.

Kingdom Hearts III will see the ending of the first story arc, as Nomura plans to do more with the franchise.

Tetsuya Nomura speaking in an interview with The Times confirmed that the first story arc of Kingdom Hearts will come to a conclusion in Kingdom Hearts III.
“As a core game, this is finally the third, and 10 years have passed. I couldn’t call this a trilogy. There have been so many spinoffs. In ‘Kingdom Hearts 3,’ the battles that the characters have been fighting for the past 10 years will come to a conclusion. That is the plan. But the series will continue. Only the particular enemy they have been fighting the past 10 years will come to an end.”
Tetsuya also recommended that if fans want to try and get an idea of where the game-play is going to play Kingdom Hearts 3D: Dream Drop Distance. It is reported that he will be using that as a starting basis for the game-play in KHIII.

“We tried many experiments in that game that will be applied to ‘Kingdom Hearts 3,’ ” he said. “If you play ’3D,’ you will get some hint of ‘Kingdom Heart 3.’”
Although, it seems Nomura went onto say that it is still open to change, however he reassures fans that his "creative policy" will remain unchanged, no matter what Square Enix decides to chop and change (Think Final Fantasy Versus XIII → Final Fantasy XV!).

KHIII has yet to have a release date, here's hoping it doesn't take nearly 7 years like FFXV... which doesn't even have a release date yet. *Rolls eyes*

Pretty exciting news for the KHIII fans out there. Personally, I've only played KH1, and watched a play through of KHII, so can't say I know too much about the franchise. Either way, it looks pretty interesting, and I'm surprised Square Enix have finally announced this. Not sure how long we will have to wait for more news though...

[Update] Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn commerical taken down

The mystery continues: FFXIV: ARR "commercial" taken down off Youtube. Was it real or fan-made?

I posted up an entry yesterday about a Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn commerical. There was a lot of commotion over it in various FFXIV: ARR communities. It seems that the video has been taken down due to copyright.

The "commercial" consisted of two people sitting in what appears to be a bus(or car?). The windows are all steamy and one of them has written "FFXIV" on the window. Fast forward and suddenly you are shown footage of the initial trailer. It was a bit simplistic and in my opinion, it didn't seem like an advert Square Enix would do for such a huge game. A lot of people on various forums though seemed convinced it was, and a lot of them even liked how simple it was.

It being taken down can mean either two things: it was fan-made and Square Enix brought down the copyright hammer, or it was indeed the actual commercial, and it had indeed been leaked, causing Square Enix do bring down the copyright hammer!

I am sure we will find out soon enough, with the release of the full game just around the corner.

For those of you who did see it before it got taken down, what do you think?

[MMO/News] Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn TV Commercial

Leaked FFXIV: ARR TV commercial?

It seems the new Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn TV commercial has been leaked!

It seems quite simplistic and not what I would have expected. With such a great FMV they made to announce the ending/shutting down of the FFXIV 1.0 servers, I thought their TV commerical would have been something equally as epic.

Due to the simplicity of it, a lot of people are claiming that it is fan-made.

What do you think? Is this the real deal?

[News/Speculation] Possible Angel Beats! announcement after summer...?

Still working on that review. For now, enjoy some new exciting news about Angel Beats!...

Possible Angel Beats! game announcement?

Visual Arts' company director Baba Takahiro was recently asked by a fan on Twitter when they can expect the announcement about an Angel Beats! game, which was supposedly meant to be announced "before summer". The fan also mentioned that it had been 3 years since they first announced it.

Baba replied with "Before summer → after summer." Straight to the point.

A man of a few words - follow him at @vavasyatyou

So, it looks like we can expect some news about the Angel Beats! game "after summer" hopefully. Whenever that may be. I also think it's safe to assume that Key will be working on it as well.

Key, a company who are apart of Visual Arts, are mostly known for the their visual novel games, such as Kanon and Clannad. In the Japanese gamers community, their games are often described as "泣きゲー" (nakigee), games that make you cry.

Best get the tissues ready.

[PS Vita/News] Hatsune Miku rhythm game coming to the West!

I am currently working on a review for a PS vita game so until then I thought I would write about the latest in Japanese gaming...

Hatsune Miku Project Diva F is coming to the West!

credit to evoxiii at DeviantArt

OK, I have this game. It's a fun game. I am not much of a vocaloid fan but it's fun to play. I saw the news here and thought I would write about it.

Considering this blog is centered around Japanese games not being localised and brought to the west, I thought this would be a good place to start.

YAY! Finally! A Japanese vita game is being localised and released here! According to that article, you lucky Americans are getting both a Playstation 3 release as well as it being released on the Playstation store, whereas Europeans just get it on the PS store. Either way, it is fantastic news.

It seems from this trailer video SEGA America posted, they've went with roomaji. This makes the Japanese nerd in me very happy. I was thinking that they would just translate it into English, but it seems they have went with the lazy better option and translitered it into roomaji. Nice one SEGA.

I was about to go into how and why this might have happened, when reading the article, something caught my eye, "'Your voices helped make this happen', said Aaron Webber,". Again, as I say, I don't follow anything about this game, so I am judging from that a lot of people expressed to SEGA that they wanted it to be released in the West.

Interesting.

Any way, great news on the Japanese game front, hope all you vocaloid fans out there are pleased!

As I already have the Japanese version, I don't see myself getting this. If I do, it will be purely out of interest to see what they have done with it. Rhythm games are huge in Japan, but not so much over here. I think I will watch this closely, and see how it develops...

How many of you already own the original? If you already own the original, do you plan on buying this version as well? Let me know in the comments!

[FAQ, Introduction] Welcome to Geemu Otaku Desu!

Hello, and welcome.

It appears you have stumbled upon my blog, Geemu Otaku Desu (Name is subject to change! It's a place holder...for now.)

Geemu otaku desu? What?

Geemu Otaku Desu is Japanese for "I'm a game otaku." Otaku is basically someone who is really into something. And I mean, really into it.

It is often associated with Japanese anime and manga nerds who don't really leave the house or shower...

...Don't worry, I shower often and leave the house just as much.

But I do love games. I especially love Japanese games.

What can I expect from this blog?

I have a vision, you see. I have taught myself Japanese for 7, possibly 8 years now. This has enabled me to speak, write, read and understand Japanese to a reasonable level. So, I often play games in Japanese.

Being a gamer who lives in England, I know how restricting it can be. I mean, the US always gets games before us. Japan as well. Hell, Japan get some games that Western gamers will never see due to lack of localisation and/or the fear that most Japanese developers have - "It won't be that well received in the West." which is a crying shame!

I know Japanese games are not for every one, but from my experience, there are so many people who want to play all these Japan exclusive games but cannot because of language barriers or they can't afford to import it.

I know that feel, bro. I know that feel.

And thus, inspired by that, I had this vision of making a blog dedicated to Japanese games. I want this blog to open the world of Japanese games to people. Even if you can not play the games, you can read about them, follow the story and be somewhat involved in them.

Just because you cannot read Japanese, doesn't mean you cannot enjoy and experience these games. So that is my vision. To get Japanese games out there.

It's nothing groundbreaking and probably has been done before but I'm doing this for fun. I enjoy games, I enjoy playing them, I enjoy writing about them.

It'll make me especially happy if others can enjoy them with me, hence this blog.

So... I hope you enjoy what I have here! Comment, get involved, message me, shout at me, cry at me...do anything! Just get involved with my posts and what I have to offer.

What if I have a game I want you to review or play?

By all means, let me know. I am a poor college student so I may not be able to go out and buy it and review it immediately, but let me know of it's existence, I can do research on it and write about it. Then, I'll probably end up buying it, writing about it, doing a Let's play of it. Don't be shy. I'll take anything on. Even ecchi. I love ecchi games.

You like... ecchi games?

So! I hope this has cleared up everything. Please enjoy my blog.
